Do you think of yourself to be a leader? What are the skills of a good leader? Give me an instance of when you had to show good leadership.

To have self awareness and self confidence are both key relationship skills necessary to be a successful leader, not by dominating a manager or employee but rather by engaging with people’s emotions, with the ability to inspire them.

To be a capable leader can be crucial to business success in the current climate and by having strong leadership, an organisation can stand out from the crowd.

Communication is part of everything we do, so taking the time to connect with staff, clients, etc…is part of a being a successful leader.

Whilst managing various projects, within marketing and publicity, one determining factor was my ability to listen to what people were saying and the best way to achieve this was by sharing information and giving people the freedom to express their ideas and concerns.

By asking questions, and not making assumptions, the teams felt comfortable in the knowledge that I showed respect for their points of view.

When dealing with different departments, and personnel, I felt it necessary to be supportive; by understanding the issues they were faced with and what their needs were.

Being honest and sharing my views with them whilst also seeking their input and feedback, being responsive without necessarily agreeing, allowed for a constructive and increasingly positive environment.
