Give an example of when your persistence had the biggest payoff

Persistence is a large part of any success whether in business or ones’ personal life, because it takes time to become successful.

Having to learn the necessary skills and thereafter the ability to repeat them several times over, to have them engrained in ones’ consciousness takes lots of time.

I recall a sales position I held at a computer shop, being relatively new to sales, in my first few months, sales were modest compared to the existing staff who had been in the company for awhile.

After some months, when sales were shown, my numbers were always lower than the others.

A few times, I was asked to work at weekends, which I accepted and during one period soon after the Christmas period holiday rush, I was asked to work during a weekend after having already worked five days in a row during the week.

I felt reluctant to accept as I was tired and needed to rest, and for other reasons.

Reluctantly, I accepted to work on that weekend.

During the afternoon, a customer walked in and ordered a large amount in sales.

In addition to that, the next few weeks I had a successful number of sales and at the end of the month, I held the highest total monthly sales for that calendar year so far.

I ended up making more money in that month than in any previous.

Thereafter, I felt more energised because the extra effort I had shown had ultimately paid off leaving me feeling more confident and happy in the role.
